Community Involvement

SHAW PARK is our latest and most exciting community involvement project.
At Shaw Brothers, we pride ourselves in being a significant contributor to our community. We contribute financially to numerous non profits, including charities, towns and other community groups. We also contribute our resources of equipment and aggregate materials to charities to either use or raffle to raise money. Finally, we volunteer our time and allow employees to volunteer their time during work hours to participate in affiliated groups and non profit organizations of their choice. Contributions to Charities — One of our missions at Shaw Brothers is to support many of the important local charities and in particular those that help kids. Each year, we sponsor the following charities: Susan Curtis Foundation- A Summer Camp for disadvantaged kids Camp Sunshine- A camp for kids and their families with life threatening illnesses Pine Tree Council- Boy Scouts Maine Handicapped Skiing- Teaching handicapped kids to ski (3) Baseball teams- Boys baseball in 3 different towns (3) Softball teams- Girls softball in 3 different towns Gorham Middle School- Kids trip to Washington Many Gorham organizations including Gorham Recreation, Gorham Football, Gorham Soccer Gorham Lacrosse, Gorham Ice Hockey, and Gorham Basketball. In addition to our annual sponsorships, we make sure we significantly help other hardships and causes that arise from local emergencies that may need our heavy equipment to donating to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina cleanup and the Haiti recovery efforts. Employee Volunteering — We support our employees by paying for memberships in construction groups and encouraging them to play an active role within these groups. Currently, Jon Shaw is a director in the Associated Constructors of Maine, Dan Shaw is a director at Camp Sunshine and Maine Aggregates and two of our managers are past Presidents of Maine Better Transportation. We also have other members in ACM, MBTA, CFMA, ABC, IMA, Gorham Business Exchange, Gorham / Westbrook Rotary, and numerous employees are coaches of the local kids’ sports teams.
