Recycling at the Maine Turnpike Pioneer Crusher Recycling Concrete into 1 ½” Reclaim

Shaw Brothers Construction is an industry leader in the recycling of construction materials. We were the first contractor in Northern New England to purchase a track mounted portable crusher with a magnetic separator. This piece of equipment allows us to recycle materials on the project site, eliminating the need to haul construction demolition to a central location for processing. We are continually looking for innovative methods, like the portable crusher, that will allow us to increase our recycling efforts.

In addition to our onsite recycling, Shaw Brothers F-Pit, H-Pit, I-Pit and new Brickyard Quarry are DEP approved to accept bituminous pavement and concrete demolition materials. These materials are processed (crushed) and sold as recycled aggregate products that are incorporated into local construction projects.

Shaw Brothers is approved to accept stumps at our H-Pit and I-Pit locations. Stumps that are received at these sites are recycled into an erosion control material by the grinding method. The erosion control material generated from the stump recycling is utilized on our project sites as well as being resold to customers.
